1. What are your thoughts on writing?
My personal thoughts on writing include the idea of creativity and expression. However, most of the time I enjoy expressing myself verbally than writing it down. Writing can be somewhat enjoyable when I'm interested in the subject or discussion. During this past summer, I wrote a short essay in my class, Great Moments in Sports, on Michael Johnson's 200 meter record breaking race. Texting and writing on people's "walls" on Facebook also entertain me. Writing in general for me can be challenging, but I hope to improve and learn more skills from the literature we'll be reading.
2. What are your thoughts on reading?
I have learned from myself that reading is becoming more interesting and enjoyable, depending on the topic. The last book I read was the Martyr of the Catacombs, the summer reading book, it really opened up my eyes to the Christian faith in the ancient times. I really enjoyed that book; another one of my favorite books is To Kill a Mockingbird. However, I was never to type of person to visit the library often to borrow books to be honest. Although, I do realize that reading can tremendously improve my writing skills; I hope this class will help me to appreciate more authors and their talents of literature so that I may succeed to a higher level of writing.
3. What are your thoughts on technology?
My mac laptop, I think, is the best. It has the most advanced type of technology that was really easy to adapt to. I believe technology is frequently upgrading to make people's lifestyles easier and more entertaining. Someday I think that technology will take over and individuals will become so lazy compared to the times where everything had to be physically done by hand. Sad to say that I am pretty active in Facebook, most times I waste my time on it instead of doing productive things, which I think many people can relate to. Overall, I'm thankful for the brilliant minds that created the internet and sites that help make school and life a whole lot easier.
4. What are your thoughts on learning?
Learning new things is always a great thing to me. It helps me become more aware of society and the things around me. The easiest type of learning system is through visual pictures or experiencing it on my own. I believe that making your own mistakes is one of the best ways to realize what you've done wrong, and actually feel the emotions of hurt or anger will help cause you to learn from it . The hardest way to learn is just from reading out of a textbook by myself without any conversation. I really enjoy learning new things with groups of people. I also don't really enjoy tests or quizzes, but projects are more enjoyable to me.
5. Why do you want to take this course?
The reason why I took this class is because previous students told me that they really liked you, Mrs. Baniaga, as a teacher; also I don't really want to take an English final this year. I hope that this class will help me to improve on my writing through the literature that we'll be reading.
