"Kipling Short Story"

1. Name of Story: "How the Camel got his Hump"

2. Theme: This short story teaches both young and mature people to refrain from laziness. It educates and supports the fact that everyone has responsibilities in life, and having a “hump” is not the right and successful way.

Moral: The story portrays that all individuals shouldn’t be like the camel. In other words, people should live their lives serving others and God, especially Christians. In this story the camel clearly only cared about himself. He was selfish and did not do his part of the work. One example was when he sat and stared at himself in the pool of water. The camel was full of himself, and ignored everything else in his life. The moral is not to have a “hump” because it represents one's laziness and stubbornness.

Application: I can apply to my life because there are many times where I am apathetic, especially this time where I am reaching senioritis.

3. Opinion of Story: This story was a good reminder to me. I read it at a good time in my life because I need encouragement in accomplishing important tasks. I need to realize that I’ll be graduating soon, and I need to take my responsibilities seriously.
