Macbeth Analysis Outline

Thesis: In Macbeth, Shakespeare demonstrates the devious, scheming side of human nature.

What is the theme of this story?

Theme: In “Macbeth”, Shakespeare displays the theme of deception.

I. The Witches: “Fair is foul and foul is fair”

II. Macbeth: He is portrayed as a noble, genuine man. However, he kindly invites Duncan to his house when his true intention was his act of murdering him, and later covers it up by killing the guards to overshadow his guiltiness.

III. Lady Macbeth: She is introduced as a kind wife, but in actuality she is a witch. She mischievously convinces others, mainly her husband.

What can we learn from this story?

I. Appearance Vs. Reality: Don’t just judge people off of their physical appearance.

II. Guard yourself, and don’t let anyone take advantage of you.

III. Be aware and cautious; God is the only true sustainer that all people should depend on.

How can you apply it to your life?

I. Guarding my heart, and not being easily tricked by evil or kind people.

II. Rely more on God’s truth and promises instead of other individuals.

III. Don’t be deceived by other people.
