Connections between Jane Eyre and “The Reason"

The well-known song,” The Reason”, does connect with some aspects of Jane Eyre. First, the song mainly talks about how an ordinary man wants to change for the sake of someone or some incident that happened in this life. On the other hand, Jane dramatically changed her lifestyle for herself; she demonstrates this through her struggles with the Reed family and accomplishments in becoming a teacher. Since Jane is an orphan, she strived to survive and deal with the negative aspects that encountered her. Second, the song illustrated the relationship of Jane and Rochester. Especially in the lines, “I've found a reason for me, To change who I used to be, A reason to start over new, And the reason is you”; both Jane and Rochester have a connection where they can both relate and understand each other because of their background and past. They attract each other and express their past sins and remorse, which leads them on to grow together mentally. My Rochester’s feeling for her changes his heart, and also revamped his experience of communication with Jane, which was rare for his type of personality and status as her employer. So far, Jane is on a quest to find love, and it may be found with Rochester.

Connections between Jane Eyre and “First Time”

“First Time”, I thought, connects with Jane and Rochester relationship as well. With both of their limited experience with love, they both have this sense that their meant to be together. Also the line, “I'm taking a chance, letting you inside”, demonstrates their intercourse. The first time they met their attention for each other was alive and animate, and they were able to bond with each other sharing their past. I believe that one of the greatest gifts you can give someone is being able to listen to him or her, and be there whenever they’re lonely or hurt. Just as Jane and Rochester have been through rough pasts, they were there for each other. The part of the song, “Feeling alive all over again”, shows how Jane and Rochester feel about each other as there journey together leads them to find out if their love is meant to be.
